The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is back! After being forced to hold a fully virtual event last year due to COVID-19, the biggest tech event of the year is hosting both in-person and virtual exhibits in Las Vegas this January. As one of the biggest trade shows, CES is the place for brands and businesses to showcase their upcoming products to the media and industry leaders worldwide. Planning on attending CES 2022? Check out a preview of exhibitors, new categories, and more below!
History of CES
Owned and operated by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the first official CES Show was held in June of 1967 in New York City. After the success of the first show, manufacturers, developers, and suppliers in the consumer electronics industry have met annually to showcase the latest in consumer electronics. Over the last 55 years, CES has debuted products like Apple’s iPhone, that have completely changed the way we live our lives.
In the midst of a global pandemic, CTA held its first remote event, CES 2021. Despite being fully virtual, the event was covered by 13,613 media outlets with over 165,000 stories produced. The event safely hosted over 1,900 exhibitors and 681 startups worldwide.
A Peak into 2022 Exhibitors
CES 2022 will be held from January 5 through January 8. The event’s official featured exhibitors list is not yet available, but CES has confirmed over 1,000 exhibitors, like Amazon, Sony, and Google to name a few. In addition to the event’s almost 30 product categories, CTA recently introduced two new categories that will be featured at CES 2022: Space Tech and Food Tech. Attendees can expect to see the latest space exploration and space living, like Sierra Space’s Dream Chaser® spaceplane, as well as advancements in food tech, like plant-based nutrition, and more.
While most of the show will be held in person, CES has revealed that its anchor desk will be returning this year to connect virtual attendees with exhibitors, conference sessions, keynotes, and product announcements. While there’s nothing like walking the CES exhibition floor, attendees will have the flexibility to attend the event anywhere in the world. So far, the event has planned a featured keynote from President and Chief Executive Officer of T-Mobile, Mike Sievert.
