lotus823 understands the importance of social media sites today. However, have you ever stopped to think how social media could be affecting your job hunt?
A study released on PR Daily showed that 70 percent of hiring companies have rejected potential employees due to content on their personal social media sites. Companies listed reasons for rejecting these applicants from examples like posting inappropriate photos to presenting poor communication skills.
At the same time, 68 percent of hiring companies said they have hired possible employees due to positive qualities portrayed by their social media profiles. Some of these qualities included an impression of their organizational lifestyle or their creativity in the communication field. Social media has become such a prominent aspect in our society. You can definitely work these sites to your benefit with a little bit of effort. To get your personal social media presence in order, we suggest starting with the following sites: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (Some companies, like us, will go even further to check out your Flickr, YouTube and Blog sites; so those are good to get in check as well!)
What do you think hiring managers deemed as inappropriate? How could you use your personal social media sites to impress a future employer? Give us your thoughts!
Have a social media presence that you feel would impress us? Please feel free to send your resume to us at biz@lotus823.com. We’re always looking for new social media savvy people to join our team. Thanks!
